1st Bengal N.I. cadet (1814-5), lieutenant (1818), captain (1827), retired (1834). After retirement he was an instructor in Hindustani at the Royal Naval School. He wrote Memoirs of a Cadet by a Bengalee (London: Saunders & Otley, 1839). See W.
