Two authors wrote under the pseudonym Leigh Cliffe: the American actor George Jones, and Christian Frederick Wieles. Wielse is known, through his applications to the Royal Literary Fund, to have written for various periodicals; his wife, Mrs. Harriet Leigh Cliffe, wrote for the Metropolitan. They were married in 1837.
